1. Maine Mendoza
Breaking records one after the other, we're certain that we still haven't seen the best of what Maine Mendoza can offer. Just a few days ago, she even bagged the Best Supporting Actress plum at the Metro Manila Film Festival this year, winning over veterans and other more experienced actresses. Maybe a TV show, another movie, and more magazine covers await our Dubsmash Queen for next year?
2. Bailey May
He was a viral sensation already long before he even entered the Pinoy Big Brother House last year. Add the fact that his great looks and his young age make a perfect recipe for superstardom. We're already sensing some James Reid vibes especially since he's playing his cousin on On the Wings of Love. Maybe Bailona can be the apparent heir to Jadine soon?
3. Ylona Garcia
A big part of why Bailey May hit it big post-PBB is because he's being paired with the equally talented and equally gorgeous Ylona Garcia. This half-Aussie, half-Pinay just screams star. Her talented vocals will easily get your attention, but we're more in love with her down to earth personality. There's a reason why she ended up as the 1st Big Placer at the 2015 edition.
4. Grae Fernandez
Having the celebrity gene can be an easy route to showbusiness, but for Mark Anthony Fernandez's son Grae, that's just an added bonus. We've already seen him on the big screen as one of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta's children in The Love Affair and he supplies our nightly kilig together with Andrea Brillantes on Pangako Sa 'Yo. That he's also a part of the singing boy group Gimme 5 makes us more confident that his 2016 will be bigger.
5. Ken Chan
Usually for celebrities, being a heartthrob comes first then an actor follows suit. But why prioritize one when you can do both? Kapuso teen actor Ken Chan has the best of both worlds charming us with his chinito looks when he's co-hosting Walang Tulugan every Saturday night, but showing as his depth and potential as an actor in the afternoon series Destiny Rose.
6. Kelsey Merritt
Our December-January 2016 Candy cover girl Kelsey Merritt had a great 2015 with lots of achievements under her belt: shooting an ad with Gigi Hadid, labeled as one of the Sexiest Models of 2015, and signing up with an international modeling agency. But we're sure it's just the beginning of her an even bigger career, as 2016 will surely give her more appearances, more opportunities, and more covers! We can hardly wait!
7. Claudia Barretto
Philippine showbiz would really never complete without the Barrettos. This year alone, Julia became the successor to the throne with her big break! But her sister Claudia is one we should also look out for. We're not content seeing her only on Instagram posts because that gorgeous face deserves magazine covers. Besides, beauty runs in their blood, and we know she'll just hit it bigger sooner or later.
Who are the stars on your must-watch lists, Candy Girls and Boys? Let's talk in the comments! :)
