Mapua, Tarlac Agricultural University, and 3 Other PH Schools Among Top Unis for Impact in the World

The list included 1,115 universities from 94 different countries and regions around the world.

Five universities in the Philippines made it to Times Higher Education (THE)'s Impact Rankings in 2021, which assesses the impact educational institutions from all over the world have made based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The five Philippine universities are: Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, Mapua University, Tarlac Agricultural University, and University of Santo Tomas. ADMU tops the PH list at the 201-300 bracket, followed DLSU and UST at the 401-600 bracket and 601-800 bracket, respectively. The other two universities included in the global rankings are Tarlac Agricultural University which also landed in the 601-800 bracket, and Mapua University, which is in the 801-1000 bracket.

These schools ranked for various initiatives that meet UN's sustainable development goals (SDGs), including good health and well-being, peace, justice, and strong institutions, sustainable cities and communities, partnerships for the goals, clean water and sanitation, life below water, quality education, affordable and clean energy, gender equality, no poverty, responsible consumption and production, and decent work and economic growth.

The 2021 Impact Rankings by THE included 1,115 universities from 94 different countries and regions around the world. Topping the list this year is University of Manchester in United Kingdom, followed by University of Sydney in Australia.

In THE's 2021 World University Rankings—which ranks universities by subject—DLSU made it to four different subject areas: Business and Economics, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, and Physical Sciences. 

In the overall university rankings in the same year, only two universities from the Philippines made it to the global list: University of the Philippines (401-500) and DLSU (1,000+).
