In the virtual presscon for Sue Ramirez's new movie under Regal Entertainment, Mommy Issues, Sue's own mother Chit Dodd—who rarely says yes to interviews—talks about Sue as a daughter and opened up about what she thinks of Sue's showbiz career.
As the youngest in the family, Sue is considered the apple of everyone's eyes. "Responsible 'yan, kahit na noon pa," her mom starts. She also explained how independent Sue is and how she doesn't need to meddle with Sue's finances. "Wala namang umaasa sa kanya so it's up to her to manage her finances. Gano'n lang ka-simple ang buhay namin. Bahala ka sa buhay mo, bahala kami sa buhay namin, but make sure na honorable ka, na you're always in the right track."
And even though her mom works in a different industry (in a different country, at that), she always hopes for the best for Sue and her career, and reminds her to strive hard for success and stand with dignity no matter what. And if all else fails, Sue's mom says that she could always go back to the U.S. where her family is. "I hope na maging successful ang field of industry na gusto niya, kasi sabi ko, kung hindi ka maging successful, you can go to the States."
"Ide-deport niya raw ako 'pag hindi ko ginalingan," Sue even jokes. For Sue's mom, it's always up to her to decide on what she wishes to pursue in life, as long as she achieves it in a dignified manner. Her mom's only wish for Sue? "Na maging matinong tao siya," her mom says.
When the time came for Sue to share her message for her mom, Sue had nothing but a grateful heart for how she's been raised. "Ako, I'm just grateful that I'm the person that I am because of her," Sue tearfully shares. "I would like to say that I was raised well and that's all thanks to her."
