Needless to say, YouTube is home to many young content creators who are highly knowledgeable in different fields. But as more and more Gen Z personalities take interest in the streaming platform, some genres in the space have also become oversaturated. For instance, there’s a lot of competition when it comes to beauty and lifestyle content, but somehow, 17-year-old influencer Stephanie Concepcion (her friends call her Steph, BTW) finds a way to cut through all the noise. Now with over 137,000 YouTube subscribers and 47,000 Instagram followers, you’ve probably already heard of this internet star before.
Interested to learn more about her success? Here are six fast facts you should know about Steph:
1. Steph is a Capricorn.
Steph was born on January 8, 2005, making her zodiac sign the Capricorn. Capricorn personalities are typically described to be practical, responsible, and hard working—three attributes that we can definitely see in Steph! If you don’t believe us, take a look at her YouTube upload schedule—she usually posts vlogs *at least* once per week all while managing her school work, social life, and personal errands.
2. Steph's dream college is the University of the Philippines.
As an animal lover, Steph wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. Although she initially wanted to be a doctor, she eventually realized that she wasn’t willing to spend at least seven years studying. She further explained that she specifically plans to take up the University of the Philippines’ Veterinary Medicine program upon graduating. FYI, she’s currently a high school student at Sophia School in Meycauayan City, Bulacan. Bonus fact: Her mom is actually an animal rescuer, so Steph is used to caring for numerous homeless dogs at home. Super cute!
3. Steph was only 14 years old when she started her YouTube channel.
Steph uploaded her very first YouTube video in 2019, meaning she was only a 14-year-old student when she started practicing her craft. In a previous Q&A video, she shared that she usually gets vlog inspo from big beauty gurus like James Charles, NikkieTutorials, and Michelle Dy. About a year into her hobby, she rose to popularity thanks to her easy-to-follow makeup tutorials and witty personality.
Having received a Silver Play Button last year, Steph is now quickly approaching her 150,000 subscriber milestone. Her most watched video to date is a beginner-friendly ‘no-makeup’ makeup tutorial with over 1 million views. It’s difficult to believe that a self-taught teen vlogger went from dimly-lit makeup tutorials to Jessica Vu-inspired daily diaries in merely two years. If that doesn’t inspire you, we don’t know what will!
4. Steph loves affordable finds.
The amount of ukay and Shopee hauls on Steph’s channel is a testament to how much she loves a good bargain. Even when it comes to skincare and makeup, she prefers to use more affordable brands like Careline, Ever Bilena, and Nature Republic. She also once shared that there’s not a single item of hers that she regrets buying because she always looks at reviews first before hitting the checkout button. Love it!
5. Steph is planning an upcoming business.
Steph hasn’t shared much about her upcoming business venture, but she first teased the brand name Steph’s Diary last weekend. Notably, this line will be a collaboration with Hiraya Studios, the same store that launched the merch of fellow YouTubers Missy Gacutina, Angela Veridiano, and Alliana Dolina. Based on Steph’s hobbies and the studio’s past products, we’re guessing that Steph will be selling stationery, clothes, and accessories. If you want to be the first to call dibs, you can follow the brand’s IG account and mark your calendar for March 20, 6 p.m. Whatever it may be, we’ve got our wallets ready!
6. Steph is close to her mom.
Steph’s mom—endearingly called Tita Bamba among loyal viewers—is a self-confessed stage mom! When they did a Q&A video together in 2020, the pair revealed that they never fight because they usually see each other as mag-tropa. Tita Bamba added that she completely supports Steph’s dream of becoming a veterinarian-vlogger because she has always been a smart and humble daughter. They apparently do all kinds of bonding activities together, from working out and caring for rescue dogs to thrifting clothes and dining at their favorite restaurants.
