3 Small Details You Might've Missed in 'BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky'

Can you imagine the group with NINE girls instead of four?!

BLACKPINK's new Netflix documentary, BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky, only dropped last Wednesday, October 14, but it's already drawn in new fans and made longtime Blinks fall in love with the girls even more. In fact, it even took the number one spot in Netflix's most-watched list in the PH over the weekend. But no matter how many times you've watched Light Up The Sky since its release (I've personally watched it four times!), there still are some small deets that you might've missed in the documentary. Netflix Film Club actually listed down three of these down on their YouTube channel to shed some much-needed light on these pieces of information. Check them out below!

COSMO LOVES BLACKPINK!

1. BLACKPINK is highly involved in the selection of each article of clothing worn on stage.

In Light Up The Sky, Jennie said that their fittings are "the biggest creative parts that we do." And since they do crazy choreography, their performance pieces have to be "engineered" to hold themselves together. BLACKPINK are also ambassadors of the luxury fashion brands: Dior (Jisoo), Chanel (Jennie), Saint Laurent (Rosé), and Celine (Lisa), that's why their looks are highly distinct from each other. The challenge for themwhich they obviously put so much effort intois to make their looks work together in perfect harmony.

2. Their debut song "Whistle" almost never left the studio in the first place.

BLACKPINK made their smashing debut with the song "Whistle", a certified hit upon its release in 2016. But YG Entertainment actually didn't believe that the song was strong enough to be the group's first single. In Light Up The Sky, YG producer Teddy Park revealed that he and the girls had to push for "Whistle" to be released in spite of their management thinking that it was "too empty" and "minimal." As we all know by now, everything worked out in BLACKPINK and Teddy's favor.

3. The original lineup of BLACKPINK was almost drastically different from what we know it to be today.

We can never think of BLACKPINK to comprise of anyone else apart from Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. However, YG Entertainment's original plan was to create a "supergroup" that consisted of nine girls. Rosé said in the documentary that they "held a lot of girls there" while they were all still trainees. But for some reason, fate perhaps, YG's plan changed when they saw a solid group in the four girls we now know as BLACKPINK.
