One of the things Marikina is known for globally is their top-notch shoemaking. The city is making sure that the shoemaking industry continues to flourish in the years to come by partnering up with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in offering technical courses like Shoe Technology at Pamantasan Ng Lungsod Ng Marikina.
The Marikina City Government and TESDA have already signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on October 31, 2019. Under the MOA, Marikina City Hall personnel will be able to take short courses on fields like automotive, hotel management, and bartending.
TESDA will also help in registering and certifying the P60-million Shoe Tech School inside the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina campus, which they hope to open by 2020. Through the Shoe Tech School, aspiring shoemakers will be able to take TESDA-certified training programs in shoe technology.
