Photography Tips From Shaira Luna That Any Beginner Can Practice
At the beginning of her talk, Shaira showed some of the magazine covers she's shot throughout her career. She also shared the tips and tricks she's learned from her 13-year experience as a photographer.
Here are some of the tips she revealed to make phone photography a little less daunting and easier to understand:
Lighting is life.
Lighting can make or break your photo. Shaira shared that one of the best ways to take beauty shots is to place the subject by a curtain to diffuse and soften lighting.
Think about the right blocking or position of your subject.
Instead of placing the subject in front of a window, try to position her under or behind it for a ~*dreamy*~ effect.
You don't need fancy equipment to take good photos.
Take notes from Shaira and use random objects to enhance her photos. Example: Foil as a reflector and a see-through umbrella to help soften lighting.
Take advantage of the camera's manual mode.
If you're familiar with the manual mode of your camera, use it so your photos' lighting and saturation are more consistent, instead of eyeballing the settings every time.
