Nothing beats indulging in a little celebrity love story now and then—especially if it involves over-the-top romantic gestures! Case in point: basketball star and former actor Ricci Rivero, who didn’t shy away from expressing his love to the world by publicly proposing to actress Andrea Brillantes in front of the whole Mall Of Asia Arena last April.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, he recalled the viral moment which drew mixed reactions from netizens. “Basically Tito boy, if ipapa-explain mo siya sakin ng mas madali, para siyang baril na nakakasa siya pero nakatago. Alam mo yung anytime pwede ko syang gawin, pero hindi ko alam kung kaya ko. First time ko lang din kasi mag-gf in public tapos ganun pa yung nangyari.”
He also shared that the yes or no shirts were not really part of the original plan. “Iba kasi dapat yun. Dun kasi dapat sa big screen tas di lang kami nagka-intindihan tapos late na, pa-start na yung game.
“I was planning it days before. So meron din akong 2nd plan which is the shirt that says yes or no. Binigay ko na siya sa brothers ko before magpunta ng venue so if di nag-work yung nasa screen, I’ll try [that]. And di pa yun sure. Kasi nanalo kami. Tas sabi ko kapag natalo kami, baka di ko na gawin. Pero nung nanalo kami, kinakausap ko na din yung ibang staff, 'baka pwedeng pahiram ako ng mic?'”
Then he went on and asked Andrea to ~officially~ be his girlfriend. To which, Blythe answered the affirmative.
When asked about what prompted him to stage the ~big surprise~, Ricci replied, "Siguro Tito Boy sakin yung gusto ko lang din talaga mapa-feel dun sa tao na proud ka.”
“Sobra yung mixed emotions ko nung time na yun. Grabe yung kaba, grabe yung excitement pero ang nangingibabaw lang talaga is buo na yung loob ko na gawin yun.”
The host also asked Ricci if he thinks his girlfriend is already *The One* for him. Smiling, he replied, “I think, Tito Boy. Yes.”
