At some point in your life, you might have experienced having toxic friends. It's a little hard to navigate around it because, for one, you want nothing but the best for your friends, but it's just hard to stay with them if they're an unhealthy presence in your life. Well, content creator Rei Germar, has a piece of advice if you find yourself in this sticky situation.
In a new Q&A video, Rei puts on makeup while answering fans' questions and giving friendly advice--from adulting life to maintaining relationships. One question that Rei was surprised to have gotten a lot of was about toxic friends.
Rei admittedly said that it's easy to give advice about toxic friends, but it's understandably hard to put them in action. "Everything I'm saying right now is very, very easy to say but very, very hard to do because I was in that position as well," Rei shares.
But for Rei, it's better to just distance yourself from unhealthy friendships and accept that you won't be able to help them if they don't want to be helped. "You just really let go, guys. Hindi sila worth your time," she shares. "The longer you hold on to [the relationship], the harder it's gonna be to let go."
"You see all the red flags... but it's just so hard to tell them, gets ko 'yun, na parang, friend mo siya, love mo pa rin siya, feeling mo magbabago pa siya," she adds. "No, people won't change kapag ayaw talaga nila, kahit mag-effort ka pa, basta ayaw nila mag-change, they are not gonna change."
Rei adds one last piece of advice, "Never feel that you are responsible to make someone better."
Aside from toxic friendships, Rei also opened up about her personal relationship with her family, particularly her dad, as well as her relationship with boyfriend Miguel Romulo.
