If you’re a fan of K-pop and local indie music, you’ve probably stumbled across Reese Lansangan’s cover of WayV’s TEN’s “Paint Me Naked.” WayV is the China-based fourth sub-unit of the K-pop group NCT. Among its members is TEN, a Thai singer who actually debuted with NCT’s first sub-unit, NCT U, back in 2016. The music video of his newest single has reached 3.2 million views as of writing since it was uploaded on YouTube on August 10.
Reese, who you might know from her feature in NASA with her original song “A Song About Space,” uploaded her cover of the song just a day after its release!
In the description of her YouTube video, Reese shared that she spent the whole night of the song’s release “studying [the song] and recording [her] cover.” Fun fact: she had to guess the chords by ear! Talk about a dedicated fangirl.
Her efforts for this cover definitely paid off when TEN posted a screen recording of Reese’s cover on his Instagram story last night and thanked her. Reese took to Twitter to express her surprise, and we could not relate more to her reactions:
NGL, we’d also feel like vomiting (not in a disgusted way but in a happy, overwhelmed way) if our faves noticed us.
As seen on her social media accounts, she also does not shy away from expressing her love for her idols. As a 10vely (a member of TEN’s fandom), she admitted that she always comments on TEN’s content and admires his commitment to his craft—something that inspires her as a fellow artist.
