TikTok star and host Rain Matienzo officially bids college goodbye. In July 2021, Rain graduated cum laude from University of the Philippines - Diliman with a degree in Broadcast Communication. But before ending her college days in flying colors, TikTok's resident Conyo Girl looked back on how she first encountered uncertainty in her college life, who back then was enrolled in a different UP campus—UP Baguio.
"I was 15 when I got depressed and left college after two weeks at UP Baguio. A great deal of life was uncertain to me then, but I was sure of one thing: that I'll be back to finish what I started in UP," shares Rain on Twitter.
Rain then transferred to UP Diliman to pursue her dream course—Broadcast Communication—and gave college one more shot. Throughout her college years in Diliman, Rain became a courtside reporter for UAAP and a student jock for local radio station Monster 93.1.
In 2020, TikTok and the rest of social media saw her rise among the internet personalities to watch for with her Conyo Girl short skits. She once shared that it all started from merely ~practicing~ meeting her crush, and from there, Rain saw her follower and admirer count increase.
The following year, Rain was tapped by GMA Artist Center to join their roster of talents and has since been hosting TV segments for the network. "God took my pain and showed from radio shows, UAAP game days, early mornings at Unang Hirit, viral videos, all the hosting gigs, to everything in between, that none of my best college years would have happened without making that first decision to take the long route," she adds in her post.
