Before K-drama star Park Bo Gum enlisted in the military in August 2020, he left fans with a little gift through his latest K-drama Record of Youth. The show is currently ongoing and is also starring Park So Dam (Parasite) and Byun Woo Seok (Search: WWW). Thanks to the K-drama, fans are still able to get their regular fix from the beloved Hallyu star.
Aside from the show, fans are also occasionally treated with new tweets and photos from the actor's official Twitter account, showing just how dedicated he is to his craft and the people who support him. Speaking of the actor's dedication, did you know that he went to college diligently and ended up graduating on time, all while filming for a K-drama?
Park Bo Gum goes to college
In 2014, Park Bo Gum entered Myongji University in Yongin, South Korea to take up musical theatre as his course. During his college stay, he was also reportedly able to participate his school's musical Hairspray as the music director.
Fun fact: Despite being known for his acting chops, Park Bo Gum can also sing and carry a tune. He even got to sing a duet with Red Velvet's Irene back when they were co-hosts for the South Korean music show Music Bank. Prior to pursuing his acting career, Park Bo Gum's dream was to become a singer and even went through several auditions before ultimately focusing on acting.
Aside from participating in extra-curricular activities, Park Bo Gum was also hard at work when it comes to acads. He reportedly never missed a semester, which is why he was able to graduate in exactly four years. In August 2018, he officially graduated from university and thanked fans who supported him throughout his college journey.
Park Bo Gum in Reply 1988
Park Bo Gum starred as Choi Taek in the popular K-drama Reply 1988, alongside Lee Hyeri, Go Kyung Pyo, Ryu Jun Yeol, and Lee Dong Hwi. The drama was reportedly filmed in July 2015 and began airing in November of the same year. At the time, Park Bo Gum was still enrolled at Myonji University. One could just imagine how hectic his schedule looked, but the actor was able to pull through and manage to balance both commitments.
Reply 1988 went on to receive praise both from critics and regular viewers. It was nominated for Best Series awards at several award shows. Park Bo Gum has also won several Best New Actor and Rising Star awards because of his performance in the drama.
