Nikkie de Jager, popularly known for her YouTube channel NikkieTutorials, decided to share something deeply personal to her viewers in an emotional and empowering video. In her latest upload entitled "I'm Coming Out" published on January 14, the YouTube beauty guru revealed that she is transgender. Nikkie says, "When I was younger, I was born in the wrong body, which means that I am transgender."
The 25-year-old began the video by explaining why she decided that now was the best time to open up to her viewers. "I wanted to share something with you that I've always wanted to share with you one day," she says. "But under my own circumstances. And it looks like that chance has been taken away from me, so today I am taking back my own power." Supporters of Nikkie then began to speculate that someone might have blackmailed the YouTuber into revealing this info about her before she was ready to do it herself.
Nikkie then proceeded to share empowering words to her viewers hoping to inspire "little Nikkies" to do the same and urged everyone else to show their support to people "who feel out of place." She shares, "It is 2020, and it is time for us to understand, accept, hear, and respect."
The video has already earned around 5.5 million views in five hours. Fans of the makeup artist and beauty YouTuber expressed their support on social media.
