The music industry's biggest names came together earlier for the MTV Video Music Awards 2014 at The Forum in Los Angeles to recognize the artists who made it big this year. Relive some of the important moments from the event in this list we came up with for you!

1. The performances, of course! Haven't seen Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, and more artists perform their chart topping hits yet? We've compiled them for you over here.

2. Katy Perry and Riff Raff showed up wearing a recreation of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's American Music Awards 2001 outifts (the best couple's outfit to grace red carpets, TBH). We can't help but feel a little happy and sad, because Brit and JT will always be one one of our OTPs.

3. Lorde became the first female artist to win Best Rock Video Award for "Royals." The 17-year-old beat Linkin Park, Imagine Dragons, Arctic Monkeys, and The Black Keys in the category.

Even her BFF Taylor Swift is too happy for her because she clearly deserved the award!

4. The recent death of actor Robin Williams shook the entertainment industry. During the VMAs earlier, a short tribute to the actor (a montage of his photos with Coldplay's "A Sky Full Of Stars" playing in the background) was flashed onscreen.

5. Ed Sheeran took home the Best Male Video Award for "Sing," beating Eminem, John Legend, Pharrell, and Sam Smith. This is Ed's first win at the VMAs, but he was already nominated in the same category in the past for "Lego House."

6. Miley Cyrus turned into an emotional wrecking ball when she won the Video of the Year Award for "Wrecking Ball," and asked a formerly homeless man named Jesse to accept the award on her behalf. Miley brought the attention to helping runaways and homeless youth in the USA.

7. Beyonce was awarded this year's MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for her contribution to the MTV culture and to the music industry. Her husband Jay Z and their adorable daughter Blue Ivy presented the award to Queen Bey after her performance.

P.S. Baby Blue was doing this during her mommy's performance. Totes adorbs!

They say time heals all wounds, but it has been ages - is heartbreak exempted?

I have forgotten when was the last time we shared a smile - the last time when I saw the glow in your eyes and the last time when you whispered an I love you to me. I have forgotten when, but here I am - writing to you again.

I do not know if you will read this or you will just add this one to my proses and poems that you left unread, but you see, I am still hoping. I am mailing the pain of us to the gods out there - hoping they can take the pain away. I should have gotten over you, but instead of forgetting and accepting our ending, I am writing about us in tissue sheets, carving about us on trees, telling about us on the back of my journals, hoping that a thousand or a million write ups about us, can make me forget about what happened.

I am writing, waiting for the point where I can no longer write anymore, for I have none to tell - but when? I have nothing in me anymore, but the memories of us - and no matter how hard I try put those to its own grave, the memories grow back like lilies in the swamp - painful and beautiful at the same time.

No matter how hard I try to silence those and put it at the back of my mind, those ring back, playing like the favorite song we used to listen. They say heartbreaks turn into poetry and that is what happening to us - but poetry should be dulcet and dreamy, why does ours sound like pain and agony? They say time heals all wounds, but it has been ages - is heartbreak exempted? Darling, I guess not.
