A lot has changed in the life of the social media phenomenon Mimiyuuuh since her first viral video came out in February 2019.

In just a year, Mimiyuuuh garnered more than two million subscribers on YouTube, almost a million followers on Instagram, and around 600,000 likes on her official Facebook page.

With such a huge following, Mimiyuuuh bagged several major endorsement deals, with Lazada and Cebu Pacific announcing her as the face of their ongoing sale promos.

MIMIYUUUH: Batang Baclaran

Born on November 11, 1996, the Internet sensation grew up on Baclaran, where her parents have a stall.

Her real name is Jeremy Sancebuche, and her nickname Mimi was coined during her college days.

She earned her bachelor's degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in 2017, on full scholarship.

As a fashion designer, she started as Mark Bumgarner's intern, and, eventually, launched her own street-style brand Fangs. Her designs have been worn by Sarah Geronimo, Nadine Lustre, and Kim Chiu.

As a social-media influencer, she became famous for the "Dalagang Pilipina" challenge–which got the celebrities doing their own version—in 2019.

Aware of her so-called flaws (case in point: her limang pangil), the 23-year-old YouTuber chooses to embrace them, and accept that being different can be a good thing, and can easily stand out.

PEP.ph caught up with Mimiyuuuh at her shoot for Lazada's 8th Birthday Sale, and talked about how her life made quite a turn in the past year. The shoot was held on Wednesday, February 26, at a studio in Makati City.

Mimiyuuuh acknowledged the changes she experienced and told PEP.ph, "Siguro may mga nagbago na rin sa buhay ko, katulad ng nakakakain na ako sa gusto kong kainan, nabibili ko na rin somehow yung mga gusto kong bilhin.

"Ayun, but my friends and family, they still keep me grounded."

She is also a wise spender, and is usually on a tipid mode.

Mimiyuuuh dreams of giving her family a good life, and one of her immediate goals this year is to build them a new house.

She said, "This year, gusto kong magkabahay po, 'tapos next year, business-business naman."

The 23-year-old vlogger added, "Dati kasi palipat-lipat kami ng bahay, so ngayon, safe naman na kami, di na kami papaalisin, so bahay talaga."

In a separate interview with Justine Punzalan for PEP.ph, Mimiyuuuh said she voluntarily took on the role of being the family's provider.

She said, "Hindi siya madali pero kapag nakikita mong super happy ng family mo, parang napu-push ka pa to work more. So work, work, work for family po talaga."

For Mimiyuuuh, success doesn't come easy and it entails a lot of sacrifices.

She said, "Time for family po talaga nasa-sacrifice kasi usually, parang wala rin ako sa bahay kasi nga may mga shoots, ganun."

This is why Mimiyuuuh treasures every moment she spends with her parents.

She told PEP.ph, "Pag Sundays, kahit sa bahay ako nagwo-work so kasama ko pa rin sila."

Mimiyuuuh added, "Alam mo po, first time po naming lahat mag-Din Tai Fung, parang last two weeks, 'tapos parang first time namin mag-Rockwell, nakakatuwa."

MIMIYUUUH's small and big wishes for the family

For now, Mimiyuuuh said she feels happy and content every time she grants her parents their smallest wishes, even if it's just through online shopping.

She said, "Sa nanay ko ano, bag, kasi iyong nanay ko nagtitinda. So for sure fanny pack. 'Tapos sa tatay ko naman, cookware kasi mahilig siyang magluto. So mga pamprito, frying pan, ganun."

Although she admitted to checking items on shopping sites on a daily basis, Mimiyuuuh said she knows the value of every peso she earns, which makes her think twice about buying things online.

She said, "Hindi naman ako every night nagsha-shopping pero every night tumitingin ako sa Lazada tapos add to cart.

"For long muna, pag-iisipan ko siya nang matagal. Pag decided na ako, saka ko siya babalikan 'tapos iyon na, check out."

Aside from the house, Mimiyuuuh said her biggest wish for her family is "makapag-travel po kasama sila, and sana maging stable ang life."

When asked what her biggest dream for herself is, Mimiyuuh answered, "Ang dream ko na lang po talaga for myself is maging genuinely happy po talaga."
