Miguel Tanfelix has recently been making headlines for his memorable depiction of Steve Armstrong in GMA Network's Voltes V: Legacy. With all the recognition and fame that he's enjoying now, it can be difficult to believe that he started off as a child actor who faced harsh comments from his fellow colleagues.Â
In fact, Miguel even admitted in a recent interview with Bea Alonzo that a director once used vulgar language to reprimand him on set. "Namura, opo," he admitted to Bea, who asked if a director has ever cursed him out at work.
"Bata pa po ako noon. Pero ang natatandaan ko, 'yun talaga 'yung attitude, 'yun talaga 'yung personality ng director na 'yun," he recalled. "Siguro, around 5 to 8 [years old ako]. Pero kung ngayon sa'kin niya ginawa 'yun, feeling ko sasama loob ko."Â
Apart from dealing with rude directors, Miguel also faces criticism from bashers and naysayers online. He shared, "Sinasabi nila na hindi ko deserve 'yung Voltes V or kung anuman binibigay sa'kin ng GMA kasi mediocre ako, kulang ako sa height."Â
That said, Miguel divulged to Bea that he perceives the local showbiz industry as "toxic." He further explained that being in the public eye is especially tough for a private individual like him.Â
"Minsan, hindi mo maiwasang mag-merge 'yung personal and professional life. Talagang maghahalo at maghahalo siya at some point," he said. "Very private akong tao eh. Ang akin ay akin lang. Ang personal life ko, gusto ko sa'kin nalang 'yun."Â
Despite all these challenges, Miguel insists that being an artista is his childhood dream, and he hopes to become an action star someday. You can watch Miguel's full interview here:Â
