Who doesn't know Meteor Garden? Die-hard fan or not, you may have heard of this Taiwanese drama when it first aired in the Philippines in 2003, and then again in 2014. (That's how much of a hit it was!) It remains a beloved series well over a decade since it first aired, so much so that Meteor Garden fan Suzanne Dolorito tagged her friends along on June 16 for a Taiwan trip where they visited the show's shoot locations.
"We actually wanted to relive our childhood memories," Dolorito tells SPOT.ph. "It all started when we watched the video of Ken Zhu's wedding, wherein they sang the [song], 'Meteor Rain' together. Then we also saw the vlog of AC (Ate Charon) where he visited National Taiwan University and National Chung Cheng University. From there, we immediately booked our flight to Taiwan and prepared for the ultimate Meteor Garden throwback experience."
They went as far as Chiayi County on the south to visit the National Chung Cheng University, the real life version of Ying De University where Shan Cai (played by Barbie Xu) and the popular boy group F4 (played by Jerry Yan, Vaness Wu, Vic Zhou, and Ken Chu) once spent their college years. They also went to the school's Ying De Cafeteria and the actual P.S. Bu Bu Restaurant in Taipei City.
The photos have gone viral that even Barbie Hsu, Meteor Garden's star, saw the posts on Instagram and recognized their efforts. She commented with a heart emoji on one photo and a phrase in Taiwanese on another.
