He entered Bahay ni Kuya in tandem with fellow Hashtags member Nikko Natividad during the show’s Lucky Season 7. Their fellow celebrity housemates include Yassi Pressman, Elisse Joson, JK Labajo, Jinri Park, DJ Chacha, Nonong Ballinan, and Hideo Muraoka. Mccoy along with other celebrity housemates even got to fly to Vietnam and entered the Vietnam Big Brother House for a while before flying back to the Philippines to live inside Bahay ni Kuya.
Before becoming part of PBB, Mccoy has appeared in Be Careful With My Heart as well as It's Showtime. After his PBB stint, he starred in shows like Wansapanataym,Ang Probinsyano, and The Good Son. He also starred in films like Sakaling Maging Tayo, Sin Island,Ang Panday, G!, and Block Z.
Mccoy was initially a Civil Engineering student at Mapua University but had to stop to pursue his career in showbiz. In 2020, however, the young actor decided to enroll back in college and resume his studies at Mapua. In an old interview, Mccoy shared that his childhood dream was to become an engineer and build a big house for his family. "Gusto ko maging engineer. Kasi gusto ko gumawa ng bahay, mag-design ng bahay. ’Tapos ’yun, kasi dream din ng family ko magkaroon ng bahay na malaki," he says in the interview.
After staying with Star Magic for almost 10 years, Mccoy transferred to Viva Artists Agency in September 2020. Despite the move, the actor shares that ABS-CBN "will always be my home." Currently, Mccoy is completing his remaining commitments with ABS-CBN, which includes filming for a TV series. Â
The two first sparked romance when they met inside the PBB house. They later on formed the love team McLisse. The two broke up in 2018, but worked together again for their first film, Sakaling Maging Tayo. "Siguro hindi raw muna ngayon, balang araw daw, ganyan. So yon po, naintindihan ko naman po, binigay ko po sa kanya yon," Mccoy says of their breakup in an interview.
In 2020, the two exes hinted at reconciliation when fans spotted their sweet exchange of comments on Instagram. In August of the same year, Mccoy posted a romantic photo of him and Elisse with the caption, "Always all ways" leading fans of the two to believe that they've gotten back together. He also promoted Elisse's new single on his Instagram.
Mccoy is very close with his family, even as a child. "Bata pa 'yan, napaka-closesa amin niyan," shares his dad, Mark de Leon, in an interview on Magandang Buhay. Aside from his parents, Mccoy also has a soft spot for his siblings. As a loving kuya, you'll catch several posts on his Instagram dedicated to them.
