Mayor Vico Sotto said on Wednesday that he was a teacher at Arellano University for one semester before he became the mayor of Pasig City, a career path he would have pursued if he did not enter politics.
Before he toppled the Eusebio dynasty in 2019, Sotto, a political science graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University, said he taught at Arellano University for one semester.
"Kung 'di ako tumakbong mayor, tinuloy-tuloy ko 'yun. Isa talaga 'yun sa mga gusto kong gawin e pero undergraduate level, 'di ako masyadong pasensyoso baka uminit ulo ko," Sotto told an online forum with tutors hosted by the Department of Education.
When asked whether his students learned from him, he said: "Sa palagay ko okay naman sila, ewan ko kung may natutunan sila."
Sotto is eligible for reelection in 2022. The Aksyon Demokratiko party, where he is executive vice president, recently elected Manila Mayor Isko Moreno as president, who like him, is social media-savvy and a favorite of Millennials and Gen Z.
