In October 2020, TikTok sensation Marvin Fojas made the decision to quit his day job to become a full-time content creator. Marvin was a full-time pharmacist and would make social media content on the side. According to Marvin, content creation has always been his passion and he thought long and hard prior to his big decision. "I planned, worked hard, and prepared enough for this. This was my dream, i will make this work," Marvin said in a tweet.

Now, a few months after his announcement, the content creator opened up about how life has been since his big career move in a Q&A video on his YouTube channel. In case you're curious about what it's like to switch careers like Marvin did, here's a glimpse of what his experience has been like so far:

You can like your work and still get tired.

Marvin admits that it can get pretty tiring to constantly be churning out content for your personal and work commitments, but for the budding content creator, it's still a rewarding experience to be able to pursue a career he's passionate about. That said, you still have to make time for rest. After recuperating, you can hop back into the hustle.

You have more control over your time.

Unlike working on a 9-to-5, being a content creator gives you more freedom when it comes to your own schedule. That said, Marvin explained that there are still deadlines and timelines to follow especially when you're working with brands.

He's a one-man team.

As a budding content creator, Marvin works on his content all on his own at the moment. From conceptualizing, shooting, to editing, it's all his work.

He earns more compared to his previous job.

For him, what he earns now is considerably higher than what he makes from his previous job as a pharmacist. But of course, it also comes with the need for extra hustle. Building up your social media presence also takes time, effort, and consistency--something you won't just achieve overnight.

Additionally, the amount you earn per month isn't fixed compared to when you work a regular day job. The more you hustle and work on your "brand," the more you get to earn. And while most people would still refuse to consider content creation as a profession, Marvin proves that it actually is, and even got real about having to get DTI-registered to pay taxes.
