Yesterday, September 4, news broke of YouTube content creator Lloyd Cafe Cadena's sudden passing. Various members of the local YouTube community expressed their sadness over the loss of one of the community's pioneering YouTubers, including fellow internet personalities Michelle Dy, Janina Vela, and Macoy Dubs who was a fellow Letranista like Lloyd.

Another personality who sent condolences to Lloyd's family was international superstar Mariah Carey, who had found out about Lloyd's passing after her local fanbase Mariah Carey Philippines tweeted the news and tagged her. "RIP Lloyd, you will be missed," writes Mariah in her tweet.

Lloyd is known as a huge Mariah Carey fan. He had a photo of the "Butterfly" singer as his cover photo on Twitter and he used to enthusiastically tweet about Mariah's achievements as well.

Lloyd also had a couple of vlogs dedicated to his love for the singer. In 2016, he attended the exclusive premiere of Mariah Carey's documentary series Mariah's World in the Philippines and vlogged about the experience.

In 2017, he uploaded a video of him singing Mariah Carey's "Angels Cry."
