Logan Lerman's Reaction To The News Of A New Percy Jackson Series

In case you missed it, Rick Riordan, author of highly-acclaimed book series Percy Jackson & the Olympians, just announced on Twitter that his popular Greek mythology-inspired books will be adapted into a TV series through Disney+. What got fans more excited is that Riordan promised a “faithful on-screen adaptation” this time as he and wife Becky will have a say “in every aspect of the show.”
In 2010, a movie adaptation of the series’ first book The Lightning Thief came out, starring Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson, Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase, and Brandon T. Jackson as Grover. It was followed up by a sequel based on the second book Sea of Monsters released in 2013 with similar casting. Both film adaptations were critically received by fans of the book, and even by the author himself, for not giving enough justice to the original storylines. Some key differences fans have noticed were the age difference of the characters in the film vs. the books, as well as Annabeth’s signature gray eyes.
In 2018, Riordan even published a post on his official website sharing e-mail exchanges between him and the movie producers, showing how they refused to “rework the script” as per Riordan’s suggestions. In his post, Riordan also shared, “Should a reboot happen some day, in some fashion, I would hope, like you, that it would be a great adaptation that is faithful to the books and fun to watch.”
Fast forward to 2020 when he happily announced a remake of the books that’s more loyal to the actual storyline, lead actor Logan Lerman reacts to the news and congratulates the author in a tweet. He says, “Excited to see this! Hope it gets the adaptation the books deserve. Congrats @rickriordan.”
Despite fans’ disappointment about the films’ turnout, many did enjoy Lerman’s portrayal of Percy Jackson. The actor even trended on Twitter, with some fans hoping for the actor to appear in the new series as Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea who also happens to be Percy’s father.
It’s still too early to determine whether or not Lerman gets to appear in the series in some way as details of the new TV series are yet to be ironed out. Still, we’re just as hyped up over the news of this long-awaited remake!
