It takes a different kind of know-how to excel in skill-based professions like those in the entertainment industry. But despite that, there are still famous stars who manage to excel in school, even in the local showbiz scene. Below, we list down Filipino celebrities who were achievers in school when it comes to academics and even extra-curricular activities.Â
Darren Espanto
Despite being a dedicated artist, Darren graduated from high school with honors. Aside from graduating first honor in his batch at Sanston Academy Homeschool of Asia Pacific, the 19-year-old singer also bagged awards like the Achiever Award and Excellence in Music and Arts. "I thought it was impossible to achieve this. Thankful that I did not doubt myself," he shared on his Instagram page.
Claudia Barretto
Claudia Barretto graduated as a silver academic awardee at the Everest Academy in 2018. Proud mom Marjorie Barretto even shared a sneak peek of her graduation on her Insta! Now, Claudia is attending Ateneo de Manila University as a Management major.
Richard Juan
Most people would know Richard Juan as the oppa-worthy look-alike of our favorite Hallyu star Kim Soo Hyun. What many many not know is that the model and former Pinoy Big Brother housemate graduated cum laude with a Communications degree from University of the Philippines - Diliman.
Juliana Gomez
Juliana has always expressed her athletic side. Back in middle school, she received a Leadership Award and an Athlete Award from Everest Academy. She also goes to college at her dream school, the University of the Philippines - Diliman, and even became part of UP's women's volleyball training pool.
Myrtle Sarrosa
Myrtle's college journey wasn't easy, but for her, it was all worth it. In 2017, the PBB alum graduated cum laude from University of the Philippines - Diliman with a degree in Broadcast Communication.
Maine Mendoza
Although the Kapuso star admits on her personal blog mainemendoza.com that her one regret as a student is that she didn't study hard enough, Maine was still able to show the achiever in her when she was still a student at De La Salle-College of St. Benilde by becoming a dean's lister. She went on to graduate with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management major in Culinary Arts and got a culinary internship in the US.
