*Trigger Warning: mental health*

Upcoming movie Tililing is gaining flak from viewers even before its release. Over the weekend, Twitter users called the title and poster "disturbing," "uncomfortable," and "inappropriate." For years, the term "may tililing" has been inappropriately used in the PH to refer to someone who is mentally ill.

Even celebs like Liza Soberano couldn't help but react to the movie's poster, which shows the cast with contorted faces + with their tongues out. On Twitter, Liza wrote: "Really hoping that this movie will spread awareness and enlighten us on the struggles of dealing with mental health. But the poster? It's a no for me. Mental health is NOT a joke. Stop the stigma."

Viva Films' latest offering, which appears to be a comedy, stars Gina Pareño, Baron Geisler, Chad Kinis, Donnalyn Bartolome, Yumi Lacsamana, Cai Cortez, and Candy Pangilinan. During a press conference for the film in 2019, the director said about the title: "It's a Filipino term for someone who is not sane. And ako when I write, gusto ko yung madaling ma-digest ng tao."

In the first teaser for the film, Gina Pareño as a character named Soccoro can be seen cursing repeatedly. The description reads: "Yung galit na galit ka pero mahal mo pa rin."

The official poster for the movie, which was released this weekend, has this for its description:

"may sayad, may sapak, may saltik,
may topak, may tama, may pitik
lahat tayo ay baliw, sira-ulo at praning
lahat tayo ay may TILILING."

The post continues:

"Aminin at Tanggapin,
BALIW KA RIN
lahat tayo ay may
#TILILING"

Tililing is written and directed by Darryl Yap, who also created the rom-com film Jowable and the controversial "BL series" Sakristan.
