Kyline Alcantara Is Ready for "Extra Responsibilities" Now That She's 18
Kyline Alcantara turned 18 on September 3, 2020.
The GMA-7 actress was supposed to have a grand debut, but just like every big celebration meant to happen this year, it was postponed because of COVID-19.
"Actually iyong mga first few months ng COVID, ng quarantine, akala ko hindi siya aabot ng September," Kyline said, talking to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and a small group of press in a Zoom interview last September 4, 2020.
Pero at some point, I just accepted it na wala akong magagawa.
"Napakalaking problema ang meron ngayon. Hindi na ako nagbaling masyado ng negative emotions."
Kyline was able to have a small celebration with her close circle of loved ones.
"Iyong birthday celebration ko po, pumunta kami Tagaytay with some friends. I celebrated my eighteenth birthday the way I like it. Intimate, private."
Ready for more
For her birthday wish, Kyline hopes to face more challenges as she grows up.
"I need to be extra responsible," she said.
In particular, the Kapuso talent is looking forward to establishing her independence.
The young actress had a taste of independence when she once stood as the family's breadwinner.
Kyline remarked, "Feeling ko naman po ever since, may mga points ng life ko or phase sa life ko na naturuan ako ng pagiging independent.
"And before po kasi, ako lang iyong nagkakaroon ng income sa family. Medyo may alam na rin ako how to handle money...
"Masaya ako kasi nafi-feel ko na kung paano mag-'adulting.' Masaya siguro siya at first... Siguro. I don't know.
"Of course, may ibang parts pa naman ng life ko na kailangan ko matutunan para maging independent ako and pinag-aaralan ko."
Kyline also realized that she still has much to discover about life.
"Marami pa ako hindi alam sa buhay. Kasi before nung bata pa ako, parang, 'Alam ko na lahat,' ganyan-ganyan.
"Pero ngayon ko lang na-realize na mas marami pa pinapakita sa akin si Lord."
There was a time when Kyline would stubbornly stick to her life plans. But the young actress shared that she is slowly learning how to be more flexible.
"Before I was like that. That's why super stressed ako," the GMA-7 star said.
"Ngayon, parang, 'Okay, I’ll just do my best.' I will pray, ask for guidance... Spontaneous lang. Planned pero spontaneous?
"And mas masarap sa pakiramdam iyong ganoon na mindset for me. Mas genuine happiness."
Kyline has her eye on the future. She mentioned briefly that she has already invested in a property in Batangas.
She is also planning to start a business, although she is still weighing her options.
"Naghahanap pa ako ng business na pang-long term kasi napa-realize po sa akin ng COVID na maraming businesses na dapat talaga pag-isipan. Panglahatan, pang-anytime."
