It’s been a few days since the newest Darna series was released, and we still can’t stop gushing about the show’s two leading ladies: Jane De Leon and Janella Salvador. These talented stars play fierce rivals on-screen as Narda and Valentina, but it turns out that they’re actually close IRL!
In a recent interview with Boy Abunda, Jane only had the sweetest things to say about her fellow Gen Z actress. “Iba po ‘yung atake ngayon ni Janella. Sobrang nakakatuwa po talaga at ka-abang-abang,” she said.
Afterwards, she shared that she and Janella inevitably grew closer to each other because of lock-in taping. “Janella, she’s like my sister. Una rin, ilangan [and] awkward but ang maganda kasi doon sa production and sa team ng Darna, lahat ng artista nag-e-effort talaga. With her naman, may times na nag-mo-movie kami three times a day sa kuwarto,” she said.
Jane added that they’re also comfortable enough to have ~deep conversations~ with each other: “Lock-in tapos nag-share kami ng mga experience namin sa life, good or bad.” So cute!
Apart from watching movies and sharing stories, the two pals also enjoy cooking together. “Kung nakikita niyo, may mga talsik ako na mantika,” Jane shared, pointing to the bumps on her arm. “Nilulutuan ko ng kwek-kwek si Janella dahil gusto niya ng kwek-kwek. Nag-crave kami sa kwek-kwek kasi hindi kami makalabas ng lock-in. Doon nalang ako nagluto sa room ko,” she revealed, adding that she and Janella are now very good friends.
Meanwhile, Janella shared in another interview with ABS-CBN that she and Jane really made an effort to get to know each other better outside work. "Actually with Jane lang personally, hindi kami agad-agad naging close din kasi we are both introverts but we really made an effort to bond with each other, we worked on it talaga. And I really want to get to know her din kasi siyempre magkakasama kami rito so kailangang maging okay,” she explained.
Fortunately, everything turned out well since they shared a lot of common interests! “At okay talaga kami. Like I said nagba-bonding kami. We watch movies together, tapos nagfu-food trip kami after taping, okay naman so far. Pareho kaming old soul. Mahilig din siya sa old songs, old movies," Janella concluded.
