Contrary to popular belief, a good chick flick consists of more than just excellent wardrobe choices and loads of drama. NGL, the occasional  scratching and hair-pulling never gets old, but what essentially keeps your eyes peeled to the screen is an  exciting storyline. As luck would have it, 2022 has been treating us with Netflix films that are both entertaining and thought-provoking—as in they're more than just fodder for bored minds.

  • Do Revenge

THE PLOT: A fallen queen of a posh private school decides to join hands with a transferee to exact revenge on the culprit who posted her personal video. While executing their plans, untold secrets threaten to ruin the friendship they have built.

  • Senior Year

THE PLOT: A head cheerleader lands in a coma after a failed cheerleading stunt and wakes up twenty years later as a thirty-seven-year-old woman. With her high school life cut short, she resolves to finish the remaining school days fulfilling her long-time dream of becoming prom queen.

  • Purple Hearts

THE PLOT: An aspiring musician enters into a marriage of convenience with a soon-to-deploy marine in exchange for medical health insurance. As they try to keep up the pretense of a long-distance relationship, they learn about each other from a safe distance until a sudden tragedy makes everything too real.
