IATF Suggests For On-Ground Classes To Resume In September

IATF recommends 100 percent closure of all schools in areas considered as moderate to low-risk to put a halt on the spread of COVID-19.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) suggested for on-ground classes to resume in September during a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte aired on April 24, 2020.

IATF recommends 100 percent closure of all schools in areas considered as moderate to low-risk to put a halt on the spread of COVID-19. Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque further adds, “dahil po ang mga transmitters ay mga kabataang mula age zero to 20, lahat ng eskuwelahan i-consider po ang late opening sa Setyembre, except po sa online learning.”

In the same recorded public address, Roque also officially announced that the following areas will remain under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until May 15: Metro Manila, Benguet, Pangasinan, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Albay, Catanduanes, Davao del Norte, and Davao City. The quarantine measures shall be re-evaluated on May 16. 

Meanwhile, in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), IATF suggested for high school and higher education institutes to finish the school year and give credentials to students.


Areas placed under GCQ include Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Sultan Kudarat, Lanao del Sur, Apayao, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Kalinga, Ilocos Sur, Batanes, Quirino, Aurora, Palawan, Romblon, Camarines North, Sorsogon, Masbate, Guimaras, Bohol, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Southern Leyte, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Davao Occidental, Saranggani, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Basilan, and Sulu.
