How Selena Gomez Became Instagram Queen Without Even Trying

Tips from the IG queen!

It is already official; Selena Gomez is the queen of Instagram. As we reported this week, the "Hands to Myself" hitmaker is the most-followed person on the photo- and video-sharing app (she has a whopping 89.6M followers!) and has the photo that garnered the most likes, ever.

But what we don't know is that Sel doesn't really have a social media consultant. Her method for posting? "I go, 'Oh, that would be great for Instagram. I should post it,'" which she recently revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Brands and social media influencers would probably give anything to have that much following on the app. There are even some who hire consultants for their well-curated feeds, so it's like a breath of fresh air that Sel's method is sharing anything she feels her followers would like. She even admits that it wasn't her goal to be the most-followed person. It's just that she genuinely enjoys using her "favorite social media platform."

When Instagram lengthened the time of videos you can upload, Sel was one of the first users who tried it out. She gave us a 60-second sneak peek of her working on new music in the studio.

With the app, the hitmaker gives us a glimpse of her life while on the Revival Tour, on her makeup chair, and when she has just a bit of a free time. But when comments about her shopping cart photo came out questioning the "realness" of her posts, Sel clarified what actually happened to THR. According to her, she's friends with her tour photographer so "it's super organic when he takes photos." Which is why the comment just made her laugh.

But if you want some "real" advice from the Instagram queen, here are two things we got from the interview.

1. Find a balance. "I try to find a good balance of just being 100% myself and knowing when to post a really good selfie with good lighting."

2. Don't stress too much about your captions. "If a caption isn't coming to you, use emoji and 'let it be.'"

Yasss, queen! Now let's go and share more of our memories on IG!
