OMG, There's Going To Be An American Remake of "Hotel Del Luna"?!

Get ready to step into Jang Man Wol's magical world once again! TVN's hit K-drama Hotel Del Luna is rumored to be getting a remake, Soompi reports.

Entertainment company CJ ENM and drama production house Studio Dragon have reportedly been in talks with American production company Skydance Media (known to have produced films like Star Trek, World War Z, Baywatch, and TV series like Alias, Altered Carbon, Grace and Frankie, and more) for the project.

"At its core, Hotel Del Luna is a spectacular visual fantasy grounded in a story about the importance of human connection, lost loves and unfinished business," said Bill Bost, President of Skydance Television. The retelling of Hotel Del Luna for a global audience is expected to bring the world's focus on South Korean TV series. "We believe Hotel Del Luna will enhance the reputation of Korean storytelling around the world by showcasing the global appeal of our local stories," said Hyun Park, Head of Studio Dragon’s Global Division.

The series will be reimagined by Alison Schapker, who's known for her work as the co-showrunner and executive producer of season two of Netflix’s Altered Carbon. Shes's also written espionage TV series Alias, as well as sci-fo series Fringe. Alison will be working along with Miky LeeJinnie ChoiHyun Park of CJ ENM/Studio Dragon, and David EllisonDana Goldberg and Bill Bost of Skydance Television.

Hotel Del Luna is a fantasy drama that follows the story of a top hotelier poached to become the manager of Hotel Del Luna, only to find out that the guests he'll be catering to are spirits with unfinished business in the world of the living.

The K-drama series, starring IU and Yeo Jin Goo, aired in 2019 and has won several awards. It also recorded TVN's highest viewership ratings everA special museum exhibition inspired by the series even recently opened in Seoul, and it features original props from the TV production and allows visitors to try on the series' costumes.
