While they’re facing a possible second wave of COVID-19 resurgence, South Korea is one of the nations that are seeing positive results from the efficient measures they’re taking in response to the pandemic. As of June 13, 2020, the country has 12,051 confirmed cases, 10,691 recovered cases, and only 277 deaths. They still enforce safety precautions against virus spread but have eased their quarantine measures and resumed on-ground classes.

If you’re wondering what going to high school is like in South Korea especially during a pandemic, this vlog by a South Korean high schooler with a YouTube channel called SEBIN gives us a glimpse of their new normal.

First off, school hours seem pretty short. In the vlog, you’ll see the high school YouTuber wake up at around 7:30 a.m. for class (sana all!) and get dismissed from school at around 12:30 p.m. They did mention, however, that they still have online classes on top of the actual face-to-face classes.

At the same time, common areas like the stairs and the cafeteria have markings to enforce social distancing. The cafeteria seats are also organized so that every table is one-sided to avoid face-to-face interactions. Wearing of masks is also a must. Other than that, high school in South Korea seems pretty normal! You’ll see them still enjoying time with their friends after not seeing each other for so long.
