Many young celebrities today continue to pursue education for various reasons: To interact with people, to formally study their craft, to prove that they’re more than just a pretty face. But for Pinoy Big Brother alumna Heaven Peralejo, a completed college degree was a surefire way to support her family in the long run.
“Na-realize ko ngayon na naka-graduate ako and habang tumatanda ako, you get to have experiences na parang, what if in time gusto kong magkaroon ng family? If gusto ko na mag-focus sa family ko? Ang trabaho ng artista ay 24/7 nga naman sabi nila. Paano ako makakapag-provide ng income naman for my family, sa mom ko, sa lola ko?” Heaven stated in a Magandang Buhay episode from April 13.
“Ngayon, nag-open siya ng opportunities for me na if ever ayoko na or for the meantime mag-stop muna sa showbiz industry, may fallback ako [at] may ways to help my family,” she added, thanking her mother Luanne Peralejo for helping her realize the importance of education.
ICYDK, Heaven previously revealed that she never planned to finish school because she was already earning from a young age. But when her mom finally convinced her to prioritize college due to the entertainment industry’s unpredictability, juggling work and school was far from easy.
“Nakita ko rin yung hirap [ni Heaven]. Yung nagta-taping, dala-dala niya ang kakapal na mga papel kasi kailangan niyang i-print yung ibang online para mas mabilis niyang ma-review. So sabi ko nga sa kaniya, eto yung pinkamagandang regalong nabigay mo sa’kin,” Luanne shared during the same interview.
Fortunately, all of Heaven’s efforts bore fruit in December 2021, when she graduated with a business management degree from Southville International School Affiliated with Foreign Universities. Now, the 22-year-old Bagong Umaga star can say that she understands the value of her hard-earned diploma—and we couldn’t possibly be happier for her!
“Ngayon kasi, mas masarap sa feeling na nakapagbigay ako ng gift para sa aking pamilya at para sa sarili ko rin po. Mas nagkaroon ako ng confidence na kahit anong ibigay sa akin at ibato ng mundo ay kakayanin ko po, at alam kong may fallback ako if ever na gusto kong mag-focus sa family,” Heaven concluded.
