Get ready to welcome back your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite as HBO Max’s reboot of the popular CW series officially starts production at the Big Apple. And what better way to introduce the show’s fresh faces than with paparazzi photos shot on the famous steps of the Met, a.k.a. Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf’s iconic hangout spot?

The beloved teen drama, which made household names out of Blake Lively (Serena van der Woodsen), Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf), Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey), Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass), and Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald), will be given a 2020 makeover. The much-awaited Gossip Girl reboot—now starring Evan Mock, Eli Brown, Zión Moreno, Jordan Alexander, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Savannah Smith, Thomas Doherty, and Whitney Peak—began rolling out casting announcements in the spring and has since completed its new batch of promising talents to represent NYC’s coolest (yet often problematic) kids.

That said, don’t even bother trying to figure out who’s who, because the reboot is expected to be quite different from the original teen drama, which ran from 2007 to 2012 and was loosely based on books by Cecily von Ziegesar.

The show is slated for a 2021 release and will be set eight years since the events of the first series. Its logline reads: "Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years."

For one, the definition of modern technology has definitely evolved over the years, so the new Gossip Girl (who’s most likely not Dan anymore!) will be equipped with more than just blog posts and mobile alerts to stir the pot. Showrunner Joshua Safran, who was an executive producer and writer for the first Gossip Girl, also told fans on Twitter that the show would be "very, very queer."

Meanwhile, some things never change. While there’s no news if any of the original cast members will be reprising their roles, Kristen Bell is confirmed to be returning as the voice of Gossip Girl. Eric Daman, the original costume designer responsible for Serena and Blair's iconic looks, is also on board for the remake, so you could expect the fashion to be just as headline-worthy as it was before. After all, you know you love it!
