1. Christina Grimmie (22)

Over the weekend, the world was shocked when news about YouTube star and The Voice finalist Christina Grimmie's untimely death made it online. The musician was shot while holding a meet and greet after her show. (via CNN) While she's best known for her stint on The Voice, the online community knows her as zeldaxlove64 who shares covers, documentaries, and other videos that are inspirational, fun, and encouraging on YouTube.

2. Aaliyah (22)

Aaliyah was at the height of her career—with her songs like "If Your Girl Only Knew" and "Try Again," which was used as the OST for the film Romeo Must Die where she starred opposite martial artist Jet Li—when the plane she boarded after working on her music video for "Rock the Boat" crashed in the Bahamas. Her death happened a month after she released her self-titled third album. (via ABC)

3. Selena (23)

Selena was considered as the Queen of Tejano Music, a type of Mexican music, and was even referred to as the Mexican Madonna. She was shot by a fan who founded her fan club and managed her boutique while they were negotiating in a motel room in 1995. The said fan was about to be fired for embezzling money. After her death, in 1997, Jennifer Lopez played the role of the singer in the biopic Selena.

4. Amy Winehouse (27)

The Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter won five awards in 2008 for her album Back to Black, including Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. She died in 2011 due to alcohol poisoning while she was at home. Many musicians paid tribute to the singer after her death. Green Day released the song "Amy," and her parents also wrote memoirs about their late daughter, proceeds of which went to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
