'Glee' Star Naya Rivera Declared Missing After Boating Trip With Her Son
Actress Naya Rivera, 33, was confirmed missing after going on a boat trip in Lake Piru, Southern California with her four-year-old son on July 9, 2020.
The Twitter account of the Ventura Sheriff posted an update on July 9, 9:30 a.m., saying that a search and rescue operation is currently ongoing for a "possible drowning victim" at Lake Piru. They later on confirmed that the missing person was Naya Rivera.
CNN further reports that Rivera went to the lake on July 9 with her son and rented a boat. Her son was found alive and uninjured, wearing a life vest, and that an adult life vest was also seen on the boat.
As of writing, there are no updates regarding the rescue operations.
Naya Rivera is best known for portraying Santana Lopez in the 2009 TV series Glee which ran for six seasons. Fellow Glee star Harry Shum, Jr. made a brief tweet shortly after news of his co-star going missing broke.
Her last tweet and Instagram post was a photo of her and her son with the caption, "just the two of us" which fans are now commenting on to express worry and support.
