As community pantries emerge in the spirit of bayanihan, citizens, including celebs who have more to give, have been setting up their own within their communities, or donating to organizers who already started their own.

The goal is to help provide the daily needs of Filipinos who have been severely affected by the pandemic, in the form of food, toiletries, and other essential goods.

It was started by the Maginhawa Community Pantry in Quezon City, led by Ana Patricia Non, and has since inspired many others to create their own.

One of the celebrities who took part in this initiative is Kapuso actress Gabbi Garcia.

On April 21, Gabbi spearheaded the setup of their community pantry in BF Northwest, Parañaque City.

Their community pantry offers various items like groceries, rice, vegetables, and more.

In her Instagram caption, Gabbi writes that this is her way to encourage more people to help their neighbors.

“Posting this with nothing but pure and good intentions [heart emoji] this is to inspire everyone that despite of the situation, we can all help each other in our own little way. [praying hands emoji]," Gabbi writes.

“Thank you to our small community for making this possible! [two hearts emoji] thank you also to everyone who stopped by to drop their donations. May God Bless you more! [sparkles emoji]

“To all the community pantries, SALAMAT SAINYO!!! Keep going! God bless your pure hearts! Tayo tayo ang magtulungan [praying hands, heart emojis]”

In reply, Gabbi said that she didn't need the basher's negative comments, and just called on the the poster to donate goods.
