ICYMI, Francine Diaz recently starred as a mourning lover in Zack Tabudlo’s music video for “As You Are.” As the song went viral on social media earlier this month, netizens were swooning over the natural chemistry between Zack and Francine.

In case you’re wondering why these two Gen Z stars perform well together, we have a simple answer: They’re actually childhood friends!

Nagkasama na kami before. 10 lang ako noon tapos [siya] 12,” Francine revealed in her behind-the-scenes vlog for the music video. “Tapos ngayon 18 na ako at siya 20. Ngayon lang ulit kami nagkita after ilang years.”

“Fun fact: I think si Francine 'yung first batch of childhood friends ko noong time na ‘yun,” Zack added. FYI, these two first met each other eight years ago when they were still under the same talent agency.

In another interview with iWantTFC and Seth Fedelin, Francine further explained that she enjoyed reuniting with her old showbiz friend. “Nagulat ako kasi mas matangkad ako sa kaniya dati, pero ngayon mas malaki na siya sa’kin. And sobrang maalaga siyang katrabaho,” she said.

Nagulat ako, akala ko yung nagpapayong sa’kin ay 'yung staff sa prod. ‘Pag lingon ko, siya pala,” she recounts, adding that Zack also kept offering her water throughout the shoot. Aww, how cute!
