When ABS-CBN first announced that Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin will star together in Dirty Linen, many Filipino fans were taken aback by the new tandem. As it turns out, Francine and Seth themselves were also hesitant to work with each other at first.
“May Gold Squad [pero] apat kami. Pero ngayon, dalawa lang kami so para sa’ming dalawa, parang awkward,” Seth revealed in an interview with CinemaNews last weekend.
“Konting awkwardness kasi siyempre nakasanayan na namin [na] two years—almost three—na apat kami, hindi lang kaming dalawa ni Francine,” he explained. “Mahirap po siya, mahirap na masaya. ‘Di naman mahirap pero ‘yun nga, nakakahiya.”
Francine also shared similar thoughts on their tandem, adding that she wasn’t used to doing romantic scenes with Seth because she initially got paired with Kyle Echarri. “Siguro kasi yung pagka-awkward po hindi naman yung sa point na parang bad yung pagka-awkward niya. Nasanay kasi kami na ‘yung love team namin before ay magkaiba, and hindi rin naman po kami nag-expect na parang sweet kami,” she clarified.
“Kasi [sa music video] may mga yakap, may holding hands, maraming titigan, may mga back hug pa. Ako po, honestly, hindi ko pa nagawa ‘yung mga ganoong scene sa mga pakilig eksena na nagawa ko before,” she added, referring to the romantic scenes she shot with Seth for the music video of Ace Banzuelo's "Muli."
Still, both of them are determined to work through that awkwardness and improve their love team’s on-screen chemistry. “Pero thankful kami na naitawid namin at anging maayos naman yung itsura niya sa lahat ng ginawa namin. Siyempre po, sa lahat naman ng binibigay sa’min ni Seth at sa mga ibibigay pa, binibigay namin yung best namin at in-e-embrace namin ‘yung blessing na napupunta sa’min,” Francine shared.
Seth also claired that he and Francine will focus on the overwhelming support of avid FranSeth fans. “Nagulat kami na tinanggap po [kami] ng tao,” Seth said. “T’saka kami pong dalawa, hindi po kaming mahilig pumatol sa mga bashing. ‘Yun po ‘yung maganda sa’ming dalawa, hindi kami nagsasalita.”
“Natutuwa po kami kasi in-expect namin hate ‘yung ma-re-receive namin noong mismong storycon ng Dirty Linen. Pero kabaliktaran siya, tinanggap kami ng mga tao,” Francine concluded.
