Recognized for his work Next to Me 28-year-old Filipino filmmaker Breech Asher Harani was chosen as one of the awardees of the Academy's JCS International Young Creatives Award.

Based on a true story, the said film is a one-minute short about a Muslim student trying to find her place in a new non-Muslim school after her family was forced to evacuate from Marawi during the siege in 2017. In an interview with ABS-CBN, Harani said that he believes it's important to educate students and the youth at large, to be more open minded towards different traditions and religions. He also shares that he is grateful to have been given a platform to further advance his advocacy of peace and inclusion.

The JCS International Young Creatives Award is open to non-Americans aged 18 to 29 and the 2020 competition opens in June.
