This year's September cover boy and Forevermore star, Enrique Gil talked about his deep love for performing and more when we got to chat with him after he danced onstage for the Candy Girls at the #CandyFair2014 recently.
- How do you deal with your busy schedule? "Whenever there's free time, I try to do stuff that I can't do on workdays like maybe stay at home, stay with the family, you know, just eat out. Usually when I'm at work, it's just always on the road and malayo lagi and usually I don't go home so I try to stay home, play basketball. Yun lang."
- What do you like most about being a performer? "For me the best part ha, the best part about performing for me, it's not the most important job in the world compared to a doctor, a nurse; but para sa akin, I get to reach out to more people in this job than any other job because you're seen on TV and you want to make a difference in your life. So para sakin, when people come up like "Ay, we always watch you! Tuwang-tuwa yung anak ko sa'yo," like "Pag gabi sabay kami kumakain ng dinner pinapanood ka namin sobrang natutuwa kami." I mean to hear that from people that you don't even know that you help maybe in a way. Kasi you're just coming out on TV, but you know. So for me I like to reach out and make a difference lang, make people happy. Para sa akin it's the best way."
- What's the hardest part about being a performer? "The hardest part about it, yun nga, yung sinasabi ko, parang pagmamay-ari ka na ng public. Your life is not yours anymore. I mean it's not that true pero most of it is. You're like a, you're a piece of the public. So it's different and you have to get used to it, but it's still hard."
- Who is your inspiration? "My dad. I'll say my dad. I just saw him growing up. I just saw him. We didn't have everything but anything that we wanted. He'd make sure that he would work hard and give it to us. So parang you know, it's just about working. At this moment, para sa akin yun yung motivation ko to keep on working, give a good life for the family, so that's my inspiration."
