In a press conference for her upcoming TV series The Seniors, 25-year-old actress Ella Cruz revealed that she was once a bullied teen in high school.

"To be honest, yung high school talaga ang pinakamagulo na parte ng buhay ko, isa sa mga magulong parte ng buhay, kasi dun ko na-experience na ma-bully ako," she said, recounting that she usually got teased for her height and acting career. Others also accused her of bribing the school to pass her classes.

"Laos na artista raw ako kapag wala akong projects, sinasabihan ako ng mga ganoon. Sinasabi nila na nakakapasa lang kasi binabayaran ko raw yung mga teacher dahil lagi akong absent," she adds.

Apart from the verbal abuse she experienced, she was also slapped by her classmates for no apparent reason.

"One time, I'm just walking sa hallway, biglang kinorner po ako ng mga kaklase tapos bigla nila akong sinampal, out of nowhere, na walang reason talaga," she shared.

"Sila talaga yung maaasahan mo through ups and downs. Dito sa Bulacan, wala akong friends. Pero yung naging friends ko sa Quezon City, they didn't care na artista ako," she said.

ICYDK, Ella’s best known for playing the title character in the drama series Aryana, as well as the leading lady in Fangirl, Fanboy. Beyond her acting projects, Ella also owns a lifestyle shop called Life is EC.
