Divergent News: Allegiant To Be Split Into Two Movies

It's not ground-breaking news. It has been done before. Harry Potter did it first and with great success, and big movie franchises like Twilight and The Hunger Games also followed suit. So it comes as no surprise that Lionsgate?Summit Entertainment has officially announced that the third installment of the Divergent trilogy will be split into two movies. Allegiant Part 1 will be released in March 2016, while the second part will be released in March 2017. So yay that means more screen time for #FourTris, but boo because we'll have to wait a full year to see how it all ends.
Tons of fans aired their grievances online over how the third book ends. Nope, we're not going to spoil it for you—you'll have to finish the book or wait till 2017 to find out. But something pretty major happens at the end so we're not quite sure where they'll be making the split.
Any guesses? What do you think of the news? Do you think it was a wise idea to split Allegiant into two (more screentime can mean more plot and character development) or should they just stick to one film? Sound off in the comment box below or tweet us @candymagdotcom to join in on the conversation!
