During the online media con for TV5's new series Encounter, lead stars Diego Loyzaga and Cristine Reyes talked about playing the roles originated by Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo. In the Filipino adaptation of Encounter, two people named Celine and Gino meet in Ilocos and sparks fly between them—not knowing that Gino is actually a new employee at Celine's hotel back in the city.
Diego Loyzaga and Cristine Reyes on the pressure that came with their roles
When asked if there was pressure when it came to reinterpreting these characters, Diego admitted there was a lot, saying: "Oo naman, siyempre!"
"Yeah, I tried. I tried copying the original one and...hindi ako kasing-guwapo niya e. Ang guwapo talaga ni Park Bo Gum and iba yung charm niya. So we did a different attempt, right Direk? Medyo iba, iba po. Pero siyempre I tried. Especially, like, there were some details in the scenes that had meaning to the original Encounter. So I tried to copy some of it, pero yung iba, hindi na talaga."
Cristine added: "Every time nagshoo-shoot kami, we really really check everything. Kung mayroong onting mali, we have to do it all over again. Ganoon namin siya ginawa."

On why they shot important scenes in Ilocos
During the media con, Cristine and Diego said their "most unforgettable moment" from shooting Encounter was during the sunset scene! They were actually listening to music together while shooting. The show's director Jeffrey Jeturian shared that they planned to shoot Diego and Cristine's first scenes out of the country, but because of travel restrictions, they chose to shoot them in Burgos, Ilocos instead because of its beautiful sunsets.
