Dead Kids, a coming-of-age thriller, makes history as the first-ever Filipino original Netflix film and we're definitely here for its unconventional narrative. Directed by Mikhail Red, the movie follows a socially awkward teen who's taken in by a group of misfits as they device a plot to take out their high school's arrogant rich boy. Things don't go according to plan though as their scheme takes a deadly turn.

“I wanted to expose the entitlement and insecurities of a generation growing up in a country of extreme social disparity but cleverly package it as pop entertainment," Mikhail reveals. "It is a crime story in the age of social media and a bleak vision of the Filipino youth's psyche. It is a commentary on the youth's views on masculinity, morality, and vigilante justice paralleled with today's political climate. It is both a coming-of-age story, and a cautionary tale for the builders of our future.”

Dead Kids stars Sue Ramirez, Khalil Ramos, Gabby Padilla, Markus Paterson, Vance Larena Kelvin Miranda, and Jan Silverio.

The film premiered at the Cinema One Originals Film Festival and starts streaming on December 1.
