Regardless of how ready students are, online classes have officially begun for many colleges and universities in the Philippines. Many classes employ self-paced learning so students can read up on modules on their own time, while others also hold video call sessions on various platforms like Zoom to discuss lectures and lessons together.

Aside from the low-key effects of online classes on our health, the number one struggle with online classes would be their internet connection. Aside from data used to surf the net and access modules online, they'd also have to allocate some for the classes that require video calls. If your class uses Zoom as a video conferencing platform, this might give you an idea of how much data you'll need to join your online classes.

Apparently, Zoom calls take up quite a lot of your data, but it still depends on the length, streaming quality, and device you use for your calls. According to website, one-hour Zoom calls can take up anywhere between 810 MB to 2.4 GB. This will still depend on the streaming quality you choose for each call (the higher the quality, the higher the data usage).

If you want to save up on data though, it might be better to use Zoom on your phones instead. also mentioned that data usage for those using Zoom on mobile will likely be lower because the app optimizes the call for mobile users and removes a lot of the data consumption-heavy features that are otherwise present in the desktop version.
