Darren Espanto turned emotional when asked about the current state of his relationship with his parents. In his recent Magandang Buhay interview, he opened up about having a misunderstanding with his mom and dad.

When asked what he wants to *promise* to his parents, he replied: "Siguro, I promise to keep trying to make you proud always, and I promise not to be a disappointment too often."

He also revealed that there are some things that he doesn't see eye-to-eye with his parents.

Pero it's a part of life.

At that point, Darren began to tear up. "But I promise to my parents, sana makita niyo pa rin yung Darren na kilala niyo nung bata pa ako, bago lumipad papuntang Pilipinas."

He added that despite opening up about that, he understands that parents will always worry about their child and that it's completely normal.

"I just promise to try my best to always make you guys proud and not be a disappointment," he concluded.

ICYDK, Darren's parents, Lyndon and Marinel Espanto, are both nurses based in Canada. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old singer-actor lives in the Philippines for his showbiz career.
