If you keep tabs on the local entertainment scene, you’ve probably already heard of Dalia Varde before. Now preparing to return to the second season of hit series He’s Into Her, the 18-year-old actress has been quickly rising to fame these days. Unsurprisingly, the budding Gen Z star also has a relatively large social media following, with over 300,000 Instagram followers and 100,000 YouTube subscribers. But on the off-chance that you haven’t spotted any of her projects yet, we’re here to help you get acquainted with the budding Gen Z star. Below, check out five fast facts that you should know about Dalia:

1. Dalia was born in Kuwait.

On October 28, 2003, Dalia was born to an Egyptian father and a Filipino mother in Kuwait. Since the half-Egyptian’s legal full Arab name is quite a mouthful, she chose to go by Dalia V. Khattab or Dalia Varde here in the Philippines. Dalia currently holds a dual citizenship because she moved to the Philippines to pursue showbiz when she was only 14 years old. FYI, she’s fluent in both English and Arabic!

Dalia has opened up about the challenges of her migration several times before, noting that adjusting to the country’s culture was hard because she initially couldn’t speak Tagalog that well. Additionally, Dalia had to get used to spending her teen years with only her younger brother and grandmother because her parents stayed in Kuwait for their work. Now almost five years since her move, Dalia fortunately now considers the Philippines as her new home.

2. Dalia is a rising actress.

Dalia actually never meant to live in the Philippines when she first visited the country as a 14-year-old. In a previous interview with RAWR Nation, Dalia shared that she was only going for a vacation with her family, but she ended up missing her flight back to Kuwait because her manager convinced her to audition for Star Magic. At the time, Dalia was an amateur Tagalog speaker without any knowledge of the He’s Into Her Wattpad novel, so she actually auditioned for the role of Kim Gozon *three times*. The showbiz newcomer never expected to bag the iconic role, but it wasn’t long before she would effortlessly play the high school it-girl we all know and love today. And JSYK, she also played Charisse in iWantTFC’s mini series Click, Like, Share last year.

“I really didn’t expect to get the role, but during the last audition, we were just told there. And it was so wholesome, like I was about to cry. I was so happy,” Dalia shared in a previous Q&A vlog, recounting how grateful she felt when she first found out about securing Kim’s character.

3. Dalia doesn’t share a lot of similarities with her He’s Into Her character.

Unlike her uber-popular character in He’s Into Her, Dalia actually has a sweet and simple personality. While she confesses that she’s also a certified fashionista and a protective friend, her similarities with Kim pretty much end there. For instance, Dalia opted to celebrate her coming of age with a simple dinner at home rather than a grand debut party. Contrary to Kim’s intimidating Queen Bee character, Dalia described herself as the “normal kid” who occasionally gets picked on by her classmates. Still, Dalia has acknowledged that her strong eyebrows and facial features typically cause others to mistake her as snobby or maldita

4. Dalia is close to her fellow He’s Into Her cast members.

When asked about her close showbiz friends, Dalia answered that she’s good friends with everyone in the He’s Into Her cast and production team. Apparently, she knew most of the female cast members including Belle Mariano, Vivoree Esclito, and Sophie Reyes even before the show started. In one interview, she specified that she considers Ashley del Mundo as “her sister” and the rest of her castmates as “her family.” She even shared that she used to have a happy crush on Donny Pangilinan after seeing how cute he was in Star Magic’s Sportsfest last 2019.

5. Dalia takes her studies seriously.

Amidst her busy showbiz schedule, Dalia still managed to graduate high school from Southville International School Affiliated with Foreign Universities last year. She’s since revealed that her ultimate dream is to study either architecture or law abroad, but she’s currently leaning towards taking up a business course in college. She’s also a self-confessed studious student who enjoys Math class!
