Many Filipinos often wonder what it's like inside the iconic Pinoy Big Brother house. Auditionees come in waves every time a new edition of the reality show is announced, with each one eagerly shooting their shot to become the next "Big Winner."
In fact, even some of our most beloved stars today once aspired to be Kuya's housemates. Even if these celebs didn't make it past the audition phase of the show, though, they were still able to find their own success outside of PBB. Curious to know who we're talking about?
Here are 3 famous celebrities who auditioned for Pinoy Big Brother but didn't get in:
1. Nadine Lustre
Before she was "The Internet's President," a 17-year-old Nadine Lustre tried out for Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash 2010. The singer-actress was supposedly just accompanying her friend, but she ended up signing up to be part of the reality show herself. Coincidentally, that season was the same one her ex-boyfriend James Reid won.
In 2018, years after she tried out, fans finally got to see Nadine's audition video for the show. Who would've thought this wide-eyed young lady would eventually become one of the country's biggest stars?
2. Maine Mendoza
We all met and fell in love with Maine Mendoza when she burst into the scene as the hilariously charming "Yaya Dub" in noontime show Eat Bulaga. Prior to this though, she actually first started out as a 20-year-old culinary arts graduate gunning for a spot in Pinoy Big Brother 737 in 2015.
ABS-CBN Head of TV Entertainment Lauren Dyogi admitted in a vlog that it was a "bad call" on his part to miss out on a talent like Maine. Luckily, everything still worked out in the end, with the actress' bountiful career as a Kapuso star in full swing.
3. Ivana Alawi
If you think Ivana Alawi just suddenly popped up on our screens, then you're quite mistaken. The Filipino-Moroccan attempted to break into the local show biz scene through not one, but two competition shows—Season 6 of GMA's StarStruck, and an unknown edition of PBB. "9,000 yata ang pumila that day tapos kasama ko si mama, tapos natulog kami sa kalye. Kasi parang 4 a.m. [ako pumila], natapos ako ng 4 a.m. the next day," she recalled.
It's safe to say that all of Ivana's efforts are paying off. To know more about her journey to becoming one of the country's most sought-after celebs, check out this vlog of hers below:
