Breakups are hard to deal with for both parties. Some end with bitter feelings and hurtful words, causing two former lovers to completely cut ties with each other. But in other cases, two exes can remain friends even after a failed romantic relationship, and these celebrity ex-couples are proof.
Here are six ex-couples who have remained friends:
Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia
Julia and Joshua were one of the most beloved love teams in the local showbiz scene and their onscreen chemistry eventually blossomed into a real-life romance. In 2019, however, Joshua and Julia confirmed that they're now just "best of friends" after breakup rumors sprouted, linking Julia to her then co-star Gerald Anderson. But the two quashed the rumors of a third party as the reason for their split.
They've remained friends with each other, with Julia even giving love advice to Joshua. In 2021, Julia and Joshua starred and became scriptwriters for Moira Dela Torre's song "Paubaya". Julia and Gerald later on went public (and Insta-official) with their relationship.
James Reid and Nadine Lustre
Another famous local love team, James and Nadine eventually broke up in 2020 after around four years of dating each other. The two have remained close and were even spotted together after the breakup. Nadine is also part of James' music label Careless Music Manila and even took part in writing James' song "Soda". Nadine is also best friends with James' sister, Lauren Reid.
Lou Yanong and Andre Brouillette
Lou and Andre's relationship started when they grew close as housemates inside the Big Brother House. Andre was Lou's first boyfriend, and they've been together for almost two years before parting ways in January 2021. The news of their breakup came after Andre posted on Instagram. They've assured fans, however, that they remain friends, with Andre calling Lou her "best friend" and saying that they "care for each other and always will."
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone
Andrew and Emma were a popular ship thanks to their Spiderman stint, and fans were saddened when rumors about their breakup came out in 2015. But they remained supportive of each other's respective careers throughout the years, often meeting and greeting each other at awards shows. In 2016, when Emma won the Best Actress award for a Motion Picture for her film La La Land, Andrew gave her a standing ovation. How cute is that? Emma is now married to Dave McCary and they welcomed a baby girl in 2021.
Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles
Rumors of the two dating began in 2013 when they were spotted on alleged dates in several occasions. The two never confirmed anything over the years, but in 2021, momager Kris went on the record on The Ellen Show and confirmed that they did, in fact, date.
Harry and Kendall have remained close to each other years after the dating rumors started and ended. They even appeared together on The Late Late Show With James Corden and played a round of Spill Your Guts. Kendall is currently dating NBA player Devin Booker while Harry is rumored to be in a relationship with Olivia Wilde.
Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift
Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift's breakup was something to remember, particularly because Joe broke up with Taylor over the phone when they were 18, and Taylor talked about it on the popular talk show of Ellen Degeneres.
Years later, however, the two ended up being on good terms, with Taylor expressing how calling out Joe on national TV was probably "the most rebellious thing" she ever did as a teen. "Yeah, that was too much. I was 18. We laugh about it now. That was mouthy, yeah, teenage stuff there," she shared.
Taylor also recently released the song "Mr. Perfectly Fine" which, as per fans' speculations, is about Joe. But there's still no bad blood between them, and Joe's wife, actress Sophie Turner, even posted about the bop on her IG stories (which Taylor responded to in the wittiest way!).
