Getting body-shamed has been a common experience for many, many Filipinos, but just because it happens on the regular doesn't mean it's okay and that it should continue. To change the mindset of making others feel bad about their bodies, these celebrities and social media personalities used their platforms to stand up against spreading unnecessary hate against people and their physical features.

Gabbi Garcia

Kapuso star Gabbi Garcia has experienced being shamed for her physical features, with some people telling her she's flat-chested or has stretch marks as insults. But for Gabbi, these are features she isn't afraid to flaunt. In 2018, Gabbi confidently uploaded a beach pic of her and wrote, "Yes, I have no boobs, I’m flat chested + I have my own fair share of stretch marks. And I don’t see anything wrong with it. If your definition of being 'sexy' doesn’t fit with my body type, well then sorry, but I LOVE MY BODY."

Michele Gumabao

Former UAAP volleyball star Michele Gumabao finished as 2nd Runner-Up in the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 competition, but not without criticisms about her body. The athlete and beauty queen shared how she's received comments about her body type not fitting "beauty queen standards."

In an Instagram post, Michele writes, "My legs are too big they say, honestly they really are. Instead of being insecure about it, which is a constant battle of choice, I just remind myself that these legs got me through years of intense volleyball, allowed me to jump, play and win... I say let them hate, they‘ll never understand that these muscles are only made for champions."
